We must take action!!!
We must take action, even if it’s only a small action, like Robert F. Kennedy once said, “Each time we stand up for an ideal, or act to improve the lot of others, or strike out against injustice, we send forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” Or like Edward Everett Hale said, “I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.” These are all crimes against humanity and if we as people, as human beings don’t stop them then, who will?
Crimes in the Sudan
This huge problem, the mass killings and the systematic rape in Darfur, needs to stop. The starvation, the murder, the persecution of anyone who isn’t like the Muslim extremists! According to the International Criminal Court most, if not all, of the acts being preformed in the Sudan, the worst of it in Darfur, are crimes against humanity!
Take action!!!
Now if you were to want to take action there are several different things that you could do. You could donate needed items or volunteer to help. Another thing to do is to inform your friends of the problem and write to your local media. You could meet with your elected official. You could contact a member of Congress.
But the most important thing that you could do would be to take time out of your day to either e-mail or write a member of Congress. In fact get your friends and everyone else you know to write Congress about this problem! Get the word out there, this is wrong and it needs to stop! The more letters and e-mails that our U.S Congress, or even the governments of other nations, receives the faster and more effective the reaction will be. If we can show that we, the people of the United States; the people of the world! If we show that we care, and that we won’t stand for this crime against humanity then they will be forced to react!

Crisis in Darfur
There are Muslim extremists in the Sudan who are killing anyone who isn’t like them. Men, women, and children alike are being killed because they are different. About 2.7 million people have gone missing because of the Darfur crisis. One of the main techniques they use in the war in Darfur is systematic rape, which many argue shows the intent for Genocide. Most of the agencies that were thrown out last year by President Bashir were those working to stop the sexual abuse and assault of young girls and women. By removing these groups that were caring for or protecting these women from rape and sexual assault, the government seems to be trying to either cover it up or they’re inadvertently saying that they don’t really care. This problem is all over the Sudan but the worst of it is in Darfur. If this isn’t stopped it could turn into another Holocaust or another more diluted version of the Crusades.
About the Sudan
The Sudan is a very large and diverse country. It’s located on the continent of Africa. Mountain ranges divide the deserts of northern Sudan from the swamps and rain forests of southern Sudan. The Nile River splits the country between the east and the west. Darfur is a relatively large Islamic sultanate in the western part of the Sudan.
Darfur covers one-fifth of the Sudan and is home to about six million people. The conflict in Darfur began in February of 2003. Even though the Sudanese government and the JEM signed an agreement, in February of 2010, to pursue further peace the conflict has spread as far as Chad. The mass murders in the Sudan are a huge problem and we, the people, need to take action! We could do all sorts of things but the idea that sounds the most effective would have to be the writing and sending of several hundreds or even thousands of letters to the US Congress and the US Senate! The more letters that the people of the United States send to the House of Representatives the more action they will take and the faster they will take it!

Definition of 'Crimes against Humanity'
The definition of the term “Crime against humanity” according to the International Criminal Court is any and all of the following acts:
Murder;
Extermination;
Enslavement;
Deportation or forcible transfer of population;
Imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty in violation of fundamental rules of international law;
Torture;
Rape, sexual slavery, enforced prostitution, forced pregnancy, enforced sterilization, or any other form of sexual violence of comparable gravity;
Persecution against any identifiable group or collectivity on political, racial, national, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, (...) or other grounds that are universally recognized as impermissible under international law (...)
Enforced disappearance of persons;
The crime of apartheid;
Other inhumane acts of a similar character intentionally causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or to mental or physical health.
The treaty definition includes the following points of clarification:
• ‘Attack directed against any civilian population’ means a course of conduct involving the multiple commission of acts ... against any civilian population, pursuant to or in furtherance of a State or organizational policy to commit such attack;
• ‘Extermination’ includes the intentional infliction of conditions of life, inter alia the deprivation of access to food and medicine, calculated to bring about the destruction of part of a population;
• ‘Enslavement’ means the exercise of any or all of the powers attaching to the right of ownership over a person and includes the exercise of such power in the course of trafficking in persons, in particular women and children;
• ‘Deportation or forcible transfer of population’ means forced displacement of the persons concerned by expulsion or other coercive acts from the area in which they are lawfully present, without grounds permitted under international law;
• ‘Torture’ means the intentional infliction of severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, upon a person in the custody or under the control of the accused; except that torture shall not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in or incidental to, lawful sanctions
• ‘Forced pregnancy’ means the unlawful confinement of a woman forcibly made pregnant, with the intent of affecting the ethnic composition of any population or carrying out other grave violations of international law. This definition shall not in any way be interpreted as affecting national laws relating to pregnancy;
• ‘Persecution’ means the intentional and severe deprivation of fundamental rights contrary to international law by reason of the identity of the group or collectivity;
• ‘The crime of apartheid’ means inhumane acts ... committed in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime; and
• ‘Enforced disappearance of persons’ means the arrest, detention or abduction of persons by, or with the authorization, support or acquiescence of, a State or a political organization, followed by a refusal to acknowledge that deprivation of freedom or to give information on the fate or whereabouts of those persons, with the intention of removing them from the protection of the law for a prolonged period of time.

Take Action!!!
The mass murders in Darfur are a huge problem and we, the people, need to take action! We could do all sorts of things but the idea that sounds the most effective would have to be the writing and sending of several hundreds or even thousands of letters to the US Congress and the US Senate! The more letters that the people of the United States send to the House of Representatives the more action they will take and the faster they will take it!
